Letter of Dr. Clauvis Maksoud to the Foundation Excellency Mr. Walid Joumblatt, Excellencies, Members of the Board of Trustees of Walid Joumblatt Foundation for University Studies, On this occasion to which I was honored to be invited last year, I recall many good memories today and I commend this Foundation’s initiative which will contribute to the training of more human potential that would have remained untapped and non-useful for the sake of Lebanon and the Arab nation, without your precious contribution. The knowledge crisis in the Arab nation lies in the flagrant deficit in our capacity to produce knowledge, and in the current gap between production and consumption. Moreover, giving the priority to scholarships for the martyrs’ children will enable them to benefit from educational programs and benefit the country through their acquired skills. Therefore, you have engaged a major

category of people in building human capacities and boosting the human being’s determination for national freedom and social justice. This occasion comes at a critical transitional period which puts the engagement to the Arab civilized democratic and national project at stake. Therefore, your generous contributions will enable the beneficiaries of scholarships to acquire the necessary education and knowledge, in order to maintain the right efforts and enlighten the path of future generations. This Foundation, managed under your supervision, is one of the lighthouses which enlighten the path, and which will continue the progressist movement for which the leader and master of all generations, Mr. Kamal Joumblatt sacrificed his life. Please accept my deepest regards and appreciation, Clauvis Maksoud Boston, US, 5/7/2006 |
